View Full Version : Delphi Roady 2 XM Radio

I have a Delphi Roady2 XM satellite radio. By coincidence I was having a
hands free cell phone system installed in my Jeep at the same time that I
bought the radio. The technician used a special bracket to install the cell
phone cradle and the radio. My situation is that he did a permanent
installation of the bracket that holds the radio and in the mean time I
bought a house unit for my home and my office. I need to buy two of the
plastic brackets that have the notch holes in them so that they can dock
with the home and office units. Anyone know where I can buy them? No luck
with Delphi.

Thank you,

Modify your home kits to use self-stick Velcro. If you think a little
about where to put the Velcro on the radio, it won't interfere when
you snap it into the car.

The part you seek is included with the radio, not the accessory kit,
and I'll bet the factory isn't making spares. The radio production is
probably farmed out to a far eastern factory who sends the whole
shebang to the US as a sealed package. The XM customer service folks
I've talked to were at call centers all over the place. I got the
feeling they don't even work for XM.

When I was installing my Roady, I almost did things as your installer
did, but caught my error in time to change.

You could also check with local independent dealers, maybe they have
some defective radios or open packages, where they can give or sell
you a bracket.

Are you saying you want to buy the Roady2 Car and Home cradle/dock? You
should be able to get those at most electronics stores like Best Buy,
Circuit City, etc. You can order them online, too, like at
www.xmfanstore.com The home kit for the Roady2 is Delphi model number
SA10069. It looks like you have to buy the components for the car kit
separately depending on what you need. Here's a link to Delphi's page:
http://www.shopdelphicatalog.com/showCategory.aspx?programCategoryId=8&navigationId=2698

Included are the cigarette lighter adapters, one with RF modulator, Car XM
antenna, and car cradle mounts. The car cradle mounts say they are for the
SkyFi, but if you click on more info, you will see that they are compatible
with the Roady2, as well.

Hope this helps.

There's the clip! <G> It's $8.99 + shipping, for a ten cent plastic
part. 8^(

Isn't it interesting that the two pieces of car mounting hardware are
"factory renewed"? I'll bet they came out of returns and DOA packed
units.

You might put a value of 10 cents on it, but it requires a $30,000
mold to fit into a $300,000 injection molding machine that sits
inside of a million dollar factory staffed by $40K a year union
workers. They may be cheaper by the million, but getting that
first one made requires a non-trivial investment.

In China? <G>

Let's also remember that these look suspiciously like take-offs.
