The radio can't. It doesn't transmit anything, it just receives.

A cellphone is a radio AND a transmitter. It not only receives a signal, but
transmits one as well.

XM and Sirius RADIOS that you buy and use don't cause any radiation or problems.

BUT... The satellites in the sky are beaming down a much more powerful than
normal microwave signal down to earth because it has to be received by a tiny
antenna on your radio, rather than an enormous huge satellite dish in your back
yard. So those may cause cancer, just as the cellular phone towers they are
setting up in every fucking neighborhood.

But since they are there anyway, and there is nothing you can do about it, other
than wearing a tin foil hat and metallic clothing (ironic that in this case,
that old cliché actually DOES help) it is senseless to worry about it.

And since not using or buying an XM or Sirius radio is going to change that
their satellites are aiming microwaves right at you anyway, you can buy one of
them and not be under any more risk of cancer than you are if you don't buy one.

In simple terms....

Using a cell phone WILL increase your chance of health problems.
Using a satellite radio like XM or Sirius will do absolutely nothing to you.

Cell phones need to transmit your voice to the person you are talking to.
XM radios are not transmitting anything from you to anyone else.

The XM and Sirius units with the built in RF modulators are radiating
something, even the ones without are transmitting a very weak signal from
the IF, but both are too little to worry about.

It's funny you mention cell phones, as you seem to be a strong advocate for
analog cell phones. You know, the skin's net absorbtion level of a digital
cell phone's signal is less than that of an analog cell phone? I'd be more
worried about doppler radar towers in people's backyards than something
transmitting from 22,500 miles or more away.

A Sirius unit simply receives data as stated, right around 2.3-2.4 Ghz.
These are line-of-sight signals that come from the satellite. The fm
modulator unit is no more dangerous than driving past a television studio
or radio repeater tower. Add to that the fact that these signals are in the
air wether or not you purchase a unit to receive them, and the whole point
becomes moot.

More Bull Shit on using Cell phones.
They do NO harm to any person, where does this info come from, another
study? More Morons, they do testing on dead tissue not live people.
Sure high power microwaves does heat up tissue with no blood flowing, the
small amount of a cell phone will never build up any heat in a live body.

I find it very hard to believe that a call center representative would have any
idea of what frequency the system uses. Must be why you were fired.
Overqualified.

I have tons of recordings of old commercials from only a few decades ago saying
certain brands of cigarettes were actually GOOD for you, soothed the throat, and
were actually endorsed and recommended by doctors.

But just as anyone with brains could figure out, even then, that breathing smoke
into your lungs is going to cause problems, so too can anyone that understands
about RF and microwaves, that using cell phones and holding them next to your
head for hours is seriously just as bad, if not worse.

> They do NO harm to any person, where does this info come from

More interesting would be where YOU come up with your information. Probably
one of the many "studies" paid for by the industry in question, just as the
tobacco companies studies show no connection with tobacco and lung cancer
either.

Cell phones have not been in use for enough years to HAVE any REAL studies
yet. Only those familiar with microwaves and the harm they can do, know
exactly what the FUTURE studies will finally reveal, when it will be too late.

Do you really need "studies" or "proof" that breathing smoke into your lungs is
going to be bad for your health? Of course not. Now microwaves and RF
may not be as easy for someone like you to figure out, but for a radio engineer,
it is just as obvious as to why it is really bad for your health.

> Sure high power microwaves does heat up tissue with no blood flowing, the

The "small amount" of a cell phone is able to carry your voice to a cell site
tower several MILES away with a good enough signal to deliver your voice to the
phone system.

Now you are taking that signal, able to travel MILES, and putting it an inch
from your head.

How smart is that?

Not very.

But the industry is making a lot of money, so just like the tobacco industry,
they will throw billions of dollars to making sure not too many people are aware
of the dangers. Then again, you can have a warning label on every pack of
cigarettes and millions will still smoke them, so why would letting people know
what cell phones do, stop them from using them?

It wouldn't.

This is Radio RF Not Cigarettes.
Maby you need to live in a cave as everything in this world might be bad for
you, even the keyboard you are touching , dont look at the Computer monitor
as the emf from it might blind you also.

Just the fact that the signal is able to travel miles is irrelevant. There
are many signals which travel much further than a few miles that are much
safer than something running 300mw at 850MHz or 1.9GHz, and there are
signals which travel much less distance which are much more dangerous.

From an LCD monitor? Really? Permanent blindness, or will my sight come
back as soon as I turn the monitor off again?

Do you have your tinfoil hat on?

LOL.
You really can't be this stupid. Just always arguing for the sake of
argument. I can't even read many of your posts anymore, since most of them
start out with some sort of troll statement like that right at the beginning.

I am not going to respond or even read posts anymore that are just obvious
arguments just for the sake of argument.

All of your replies to anyone are for the sake of argument, so I don't think
you should be the one talking! Nevertheless, why don't you tell people the
truth, the real reason why cell phones aren't healthy? It's not because the
signal travels miles, hell a flashlight can be seen for miles but you don't
see warning labels on flashlights that say if you hold it up to your head
for an hour you could get cancer. A 500mw 20 meter CW tranceiver can go
several thousands of miles yet it is far less dangerous than a 500mw 800MHz
or 1.9GHz transmitter. Furthermore a signal at 850MHz travels further than
one at 1.9GHz at equal power, terrestrially, but the 1.9GHz is more readily
absorbed by human cells. I think you don't reply because you ran out of
lies that you couldn't back up, and when encountered with facts you can't
make up enough bullshit to keep your lies alive.

Wow! That's an audacious statement!

Oooooo.....can you just extend that idea to include responding to same with same?
Please, "truth", go to bed....your momma's calling.
