View Full Version : XM SkyFi-2 Display

I'm just wondering if this is standard with these receivers or if something
is up with my display... no matter how I adjust the brightness and contrast
there are, on some screens, areas that are darker/lighter than others. Best
way to describe it is that part of the screen is grey and part is whiter.
The display itself is perfectly legible. Is this just the way the display is
or is something not right with it?

@ Shadow,
I do not own a XM SkyFi2 satellite receiver but the display problem you
are describing was has been discussed at the http://www.xmfan.com and/or
http://www.xm411.com forums.

Most likely a defect. Go look at one hooked up at a store and see if it is
any better, if so, bring it back and exchange it. The SkyFi2 has a much
better display than the original SkyFi. A choice of backlit colors too, while
the old one was just orange, and the display looks really bad after a few years
of use with that type of display. The SkyFi2 is just colored LEDS behind an
LCD display, so it should last a lot longer.
Perhaps some of the LEDS are not lit on your unit due to some defect in
manufacturing.

Er.... I think you're talking about the Roady 2. The SkyFi 2 does not have
color displays.

It was supposed to and that is how it was advertised before it came out. For
some reason, it appears they didn't go through with it.
I have a picture somewhere with the SkyFi2 with the display in different colors.
I was wondering why via the menu, I could not find the option to change the
colors. Looks like they changed their mind.
Saving $$$ on cheaper LEDs.

Cheap is right... I've been to 3 stores to look at the display units and
they all do the same thing. The display is still easier on the eyes than the
roady display any day, tho...
I'm just glad it's not a "defect" since I really could use fewer hassles in
my life than having to return shit during this time of the year affords
me...
