Good luck with the group. A warning..there is a woman named Christina
sending out rmgroup messages to try to have this group blocked from
servers. Her excuse is that this group is too similar to another group. She
seems to dislike *all* new groups.

No she never. She rmgrouped alt.satellite.radio and alt.satellite.radio.usa
as they are too similar to this group, not to mention the proposal was never
discussed in alt.config and the charter was all this alt.* is anarchy hooey.

This newsgroup well passed alt.config so it wasn't rmgrouped by her.

Off course not.

LOL! Once more time you shoot too high for worth of alt.config and
rmgroups! Live from isc.org newsgroup list is:
alt.satellite.radio
alt.satellite.radio.europe
alt.satellite.radio.usa
They are very rmgrouped! OH NO!!!! Hehehehe! :)

Fat chance of any news admins actually adding alt.satellite.radio or
alt.satellite.radio.usa. Actually, some news servers already did have
alt.satellite.radio. However, the group never did have a newgroup message
archived and the propagation of the group was very very poor. In fact, I
think Giganews did carry the group and it showed that there was 77 articles,
and that's after a 450+ day retention. So in a period of well over a year,
they managed to accumulate the same amount of posts this group accomplished
in less than a week. Alt.satellite.radio is still not on google groups and
never will be. Some idiot sent a newgroup control for alt.satellite.radio
and alt.satellite.radio.usa for no apparent reason but I guess to steal
posts from this group? Regardless it was subsequently rmgrouped and you'd
be hard pressed to find someone that actually carries these groups. I did
find a server that did and there wasn't any messages there. Control
messages don't make new newsgroups, good proponents do. You make it sound
like you are proud that the newgroup got archived over at isc.org regardless
of the rmgroup. Well, guess what else got archived? The rmgroup control.
Like I said, any news admin manually adding this group will see that and
blow you off.
As for alt.satellite.radio.Europe, I have no qualms with them. While I do
feel that regional groups for the alt.* hierarchy are somewhat
inappropriate, as well as the choice of group name, they do exist and have
existed long before this group (1997). By the way, no controls have been
archived for alt.satellite.radio.Europe since 1997, so it was not newgrouped
again nor was it rmgrouped by Christina.

(Sorry, I wrote something that came out in hex on web renditions of this
board. Using cyberec news server because local Roadrunner doesn't yet carry
ARS. So, trying again:)
The Google Groups folder even archived my attempt at an A.R.S. post on
11-21-2001, and the entire huge A.R.B. thread that contains it.

Thanks Mark for making it happen!
(BTW, the technique that probably did the damage was Quoted Printable
encoding, which makes a long URL clickable within a newsreder, but really seemed
to screw up Google and Satelliteguys.US versions of the post. So retrying with
no encoding and just TinyURL for the link. Hope it works.)
